Deer Creek Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 9-4 loss to Westmoore on Friday. Westmoore scored on a sacrifice fly by Chance Westervelt in the first inning and a double by Zac Johnson in the second inning.
Deer Creek knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning. Jordan Coffey grounded out, scoring one run. Westmoore pulled away for good with one run in the second inning. In the second Johnson doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.
The Antlers scored three runs in the fourth inning. Garrett Wilkens, Brendan Fitzhugh, and Briggs Morgan all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Westmoore scored four runs in the fifth inning. Westmoore's big inning was driven by a single by Jacob Clark, a sac fly by Dayton Wolfe, and a home run by Johnson.
Braxton Bohrofen took the win for Westmoore. He allowed two hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out nine. Kaleb Titsworth took the loss for Deer Creek. He lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing 11 hits and nine runs.
Westmoore mashed two home runs on the day. Johnson went for the long ball in the fifth inning. Jace Bohrofen went deep in the third inning.
Wilkens and Colton Bertus each managed one hit to lead Deer Creek.
Westmoore scattered 12 hits in the game. Johnson, Erick Rey, Bohrofen, and Westervelt each racked up multiple hits for Westmoore. Johnson led Westmoore with three hits in four at bats.
